Space Boyfriend - Live Mode Jam 09-06-12

At PAX, I had the honor of playing LSDJ Live Mode drum machine to a crazy-good soul keyboardist, Robbie Benson of Super Soul Bros (http://supersoulbros.com). I created a ton of little rhythms and beats right there on the spot that went with whatever Robbie was playing. It proved to be a ton of fun. I can’t provide the same sick keyboard jams that Robbie did, but I wrote a small little progression and melody just to be the backing so I could demo some of these beats I made. I hope you dig it! Here’s just a few minutes of me playing around in Live Mode with the stuff I did.

SPACE BOYFRIEND - ANIME SWAG op. 1

There was an anime con in town this weekend and on a whim I decided to go with my microcube amp and play some chiptunes to the ether. Slime Girls/TragicallyShoujo suggested I play some anime songs to draw in the crowd. I didn’t have any made! So in the hour and a half before I left, I pooped out a really basic and simple medley of some anime songs. It’s not very good, but it was fun to make and to jam with people.

Even if there are only two songs in it anyone recognized.

1. “Hyadain no Kakakata Kataomoi-C” from Nichijou
2. “Cruel Angel’s Thesis” from Evangelion
3. That one song from Lucky Star I think I don’t know it’s from one of those animes
4. “Feel So Moon” from Space Brothers
5. “Hyadain no Kakakata Kataomoi-C” from Nichijou

I just finished Nichijou, so this is on my mind again. Did you hear this goofy animo medley I made?

I want to do up Kakakata Kataomoi up proper someday.

I’ve worked on this for so long. There are a couple songs on here that are actually four years old, if you can believe it. Now, Bug Spray is out. Please listen to it, please share it around if you like it. This has been a huge part of my life for the past year and for it to be out finally is huge for me. I hope you enjoy it, or can at least look past the bad mixing enough to see how much heart and effort I put into it.

I wanted to put way more in this… but I did it in 90 minutes. Even as basic as this sounds it’s still a lengthy process.
