♫ Meow ♫ Anamaguchi’s new single and music video

What is even going on in this video? You have Dark Moon Goths inducting Luke, a go kart race that leaves Peter decapitated, Tumblr employees working the concession stand, some awesome animation, and even a tease of Paul Robertson cats. The song is reckless, too!

You can cop the single for a buck and change at iTunes — the group’s new album, Endless Fantasy, drops this spring.

BUY Anamanaguchi albums

God damnit.  Spring time is coming, and with such a fucking fierce jam leading the charge.  Thank you, Anamanaguchi.  Fuck.

It is time…
Tiny Cartridge’s favorite Tiny Cartridges of 2012!
This year was a crucial one for handheld game systems, a statement year even. Tablets and smartphones continued to make their case as the rightful successors to the portable gaming throne, and so the onus was on handhelds to argue their relevance in this mobile era, if not through sales (real talk, PS Vita’s hardware numbers aren’t going to get it done), then through the quality of their software.
It wasn’t enough for the 3DS and PS Vita to deliver enjoyable games in 2012; this new handheld generation needed to separate itself from the last, setting new standards in their visuals, online services, and concepts’ creativity. Fortunately for us, portable game developers met that challenge, and gave us a year of platform-defining titles — even the ports kicked the butts of their big-screen counterparts.
Below you’ll find our favorite 3DS, eShop, PS Vita, and PSN games that helped make 2012 a killer year for handheld fans (presumably you’re one of those fans, since you follow this site). Oh, and we have plenty of GIFs too, of course! I say “of course” because a lizard hijacked this Tumblr, and threatened to blow it up if we don’t meet a weekly quota of animated images. Please excuse the loading time!

“Been thinking a lot about handhelds, clothes, and kissing”

Two great pieces from Lamar Abrams. We think about those things a lot, too; that’s why we made Kissing Party (Maré Odomo actually made it, but we attached our name to it)!

If Swapnote’s mascot Nikki had a cameo in a 2D game — and I really hope Nintendo’s in-house and second-party development teams find excuses to make this happen — she’d probably look a lot like this sprite!

You can be 8-bit Link, The Terminator, and even a Game Boy in Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I love these cutouts that players can make in New Leaf, then share with others via QR codes. Credit for these impressive boards goes to Tobidasu Animal Crossing, driver, @tbdstmt, @madoah, Ferret Room@miki800, and ales2012.

Raised by Nintendo handhelds. This is what we’re about. Credit to illustrator/comic maker Afonso Ferreira for capturing the portable gamer’s life growing up (and Mario’s increasing annoyance as the years go by).

The Smashing Pumpkins’ “Today” covered by Anamanaguchi. This isn’t a full song unfortunately, just a rare Scott Pilgrim demo the chiptune group was asked to put together. Perhaps in an alternate world, there is a better, happier version of me listening to a completed version of the track.

Even if this cuts short, this is just the best — it makes today feel like the greatest day. There should be a song about that feeling.

I made some Animal Crossing 3DS GIFs out of that new overview video we posted a couple nights ago.

I started off just wanting to make a GIF out of the rad starship-themed room, but then I ended up getting carried away and whipping up four more in Photoshop. These were pretty time consuming! Any other GIF makers out there? Care to share some tips for making quick/great GIFs?

Farewell, Apollo. Judging by a lot of the comments and reblogs we’ve seen in our Ace Attorney 5 posts, a lot of people are upset about Mr. Justice not being the star in the 3DS title. So here’s a tribute to the young lawyer.
We don’t know yet if he’ll play any part in the upcoming game, or if he’ll play an important role in helping Phoenix Wright win his cases, so don’t give up on Apollo just yet!
